Detailed Task Performance-
In technology standard II, outcome B, teacher candidates will use technology to communicate information in a variety of formats.
Technology is developing everyday of our lives. Many older individuals have become dinosaurs that don’t understand how to use and learn from technology in today’s society. The technological tools that teachers have available are various in function and quality. It is up to the educator to select the most effective and the most convenient for their students and their particular goal/ objective. Communication has had a tremendous impact with the help of technology. Forms of communication include e-mail, wireless phone devices, blogs, Wall wishers, websites, forum, social networking, etc. An example I have incorporated to help better understand standard II. B is having a website published for a 2nd grade class about the Rain Forest. I have used Moon Fruit which is introduced as:
“ A unique drag and drop editor. It's the reason our customers tell us we're so easy to use. And why it's so easy to design good looking sites. We thought long and hard about how to improve the editor without losing the features our customers love. Our challenge was to make it easier for new customers to get started and at the same time ensure that power users got quicker access to the depth of tools available with fewer clicks. We think you'll like it. In the process we thought we'd throw in a few new features of for good measure including social media tools and an HTML snippet widget which gives you access to a variety of 3rd party widgets.”
Along with moon fruit I was able to embed You Tube videos and Jog the Web Applications. The website was created to communicate to students about their upcoming assignments and it also includes resources they can use to complete projects. Communication is also incorporated within the website that include a “contact” tab. This is similar to e-mail but it is a way to create and send a note to the teacher through the web page. Another communication application that can be used by educators is a Wall Wisher application. This allows the educator to create a “bulletin board” where parents and even students can post any comments, questions or concerns. This application creates a forum type of communication method.
